“Our Billy” written by Sarah Corbett
This Virus has a lot to answer for, it’s left a hole in all our hearts.
How do you sum up “Our Billy’s” life? Where do you even start?
We say “Goodbye” to a Partner – A Brother – An Uncle – A Dad & Grandad,
Each of us have to remember “The Good Times” Not to be feeling sad!
“Our Billy” was someone who was always smiling and telling us all a joke,
A kind-hearted, loving gentleman – Today we are remembering “A Top Bloke!”
I’m sure that everyone who knows “Our Billy” will have their own tales to tell,
Certain that they will involve “That Extraordinary laugh” that we all know so well.
Day trips to the Horse races, GG’s a favourite for him and Sue
He’d sneak off for a cheeky bet with an excuse “I’m just guna loo”
Sue would sit there quietly, she didn’t want to spoil it
But she knew he was at the bookie and wasn’t at the toilet
“Our Billy” loved his snap! He also loved his Beer, he could sup like a fish!
I’m sure in The Working Men’s Clubs, they’ll feel like something’s a miss.
“Our Billy” has been described as a “Funny Man”, A “Pillock” who’s jokes are so daft!
But he leaves us all with lots of memories, that’s filled with lots & lots of Laughs.
Now that he’s no longer with us, “Our World” will be a sadder place,
Thing is! When ya think of “Our Billy” You’ll be thinking of that mischievous look on his face.
It’s something “Rarely Special” to know someone, who’s face is always filled with a smile,
Who can make a joke out of a bad situation, leaving you laughing “All the while”
I do hope you will recall all these memories when you think of this gentleman’s passing,
All “Our Billy” wanted to do was to see you smiling and laughing!
If we all remember him, he is never truly gone,
“Our Billy” The man with a “Heart of Gold”, His memory will live on.
His personality was “One of a Kind” Funny & Silly,
He was a “Warm Bugger!” That’s how everyone will remember “Our Billy”
So, until we meet again Billy, I guess this is goodbye,
You rest easy now “Old Cock” – We all know how hard you tried!

Sleep tight Uncle Billy, you are loved & missed by so many. You will live on through the memories and stories shared, I love hearing the tales from my Dad about you two growing up together although it seems my Dad was a little bugger and got you a few good hidings!!
The jokes you told and the fact you thought they were hilarious made my eyes roll, but still I couldn’t help but laugh!
I’ll never forget the lecture Nannan would give me when doing her shopping, “make sure you get me what’s on my list love, don’t rush and grab that ‘r Billy gets me” fact is the lists were that long for a few bits it ended up been a shop “like r’ Billy did” !!
I’m proud to have called you my Uncle Billy, the world has lost “a little gem” ❤️
I hope you can rest easy now, sleep tight, sending lots of love, Sam xxx
